Does my business need a web site?

How much does a web site cost?

The setup costs includes the following:

	Design of the web site

	Working with you to collate the content for the site

	Registration of a domain name where one hasn't already been registered

	Optimisation of the site for search engines

	Registration of the web site with the major search engines

	Up to 10 email addresses of the format of the domain name

After the site has been developed, Castle Web Solutions provide an ongoing management service. The management service includes the following:

	Hosting

	Renewal of the domain name

	Management information on the usage of the web site

	1 change per month to the text of up to 5 web pages

What is covered in the set up cost?
The set up cost covers the design and development of the web site, from the stage of gathering information, through to implementation.

What is covered in the monthly cost?
The monthly charge covers hosting, domain name renewal, support for content management system (if required) and one change per month to the text of up to 5 of the informational web pages. This is in place to encourage web site owners to keep the web site up to date at minimal overhead.

Are there any hidden costs?
Our pricing is simple and easy to understand with no surprises waiting for you. Once the site is live, there is the flexibility to add further pages and images at an additional cost.

Can I maintain some of the pages myself?
Castle Web Solutions offer a content management system. This is a web interface that allows you to update the content of your site. The content management system can be used for the whole site or for partial elements. We provide telephone support for the content management system. How long does it take for a site to be developed?
Generally, the timescale for completion is 4-6 weeks. This depends on the feedback turnaround when updates are provided, and also on the size of the project.

How will I know if my site is being visited?
Castle Web Solutions provide monthly statistics detailing activity on your site. The monthly management information provides information on the number of page hits per day, and an overall total. Graphs are included, showing page hits by calendar day, and by time of day. The top 30 referrers are also included. (A referral is where the visitor to the site has not keyed the domain name but found the site using another means, for example search engine or another web site.) Click here for more information.

What is a domain?
A domain name is a unique identifier for your web site. Castle Web Solutions will work with you to find and register a suitable domain name on your behalf.

What is web hosting?
Each web site lives on a particular type of machine referred to as a web server. This is referred to as web hosting.

Do I have complete control over the content of my web site?
Yes. You can provide us with the content or we can assist you with putting together content for your site. Any changes made will be viewable on a test site, to which only you have access, via user name and password. The changes will only go live when you have approved them.

How will people find my web site?
The easiest way to help people find your web site is to tell them about it by including the domain name on all stationery, emails and any promotional materials.
Castle Web Solutions will also prepare web sites for search engine registration and will register them with the major search engines.
The monthly statistics we provide show activity to the web site both where visitors have gone directly to the site or come via a search engine or 3rd party directory.

How soon will I be able to see my site on the search engines?
It can take 4 - 6 months before the cataloguing by the search engines will start to show.

Do I need an e-commerce web site?
An eCommerce web site is used to sell products online direct to customers.
As well as the products being sold other areas need to be considered e.g. how will payment be collected, what will be included for postage and packing etc.

My Inbox is full of rubbish messages, can you get rid of these?
Castle Web Solutions offers a Spam filtering service where emails can be analysed and tagged as being Spam. Click here for details of the service.

How much does Spam filtering cost?
Spam filtering costs Ł5 per month (plus VAT) for up to 5 email addresses on the same domain name. Set up cost of Ł40(plus VAT).

What do I need to set-up my domain in Outlook or Outlook Express to retrieve my emails?
For each email account in Outlook or Outlook Express you will need a username and password. Castle Web Solutions will provide this to you when your email is set-up. The incoming emails are stored on the Castle Web Solutions server. This username and password allows you to collect these emails. When they have been retrieved they are stored on your PC and removed from the Castle Web Solutions server.

These email accounts are known as pop accounts. You will need to enter the name of the Castle Web Solutions server - pop.castlewebsolutions.net.

What values do I need to set-up to send emails?
When you send emails from Outlook or Outlook Express, they do not come through Castle Web Solutions servers.

This service is provide by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and you should contact them directly for the Outlook settings.
